  1. Type of SNAP FASTENER which features tiny teeth that allow the snap to “grip” fabric when attaching, eliminating the need for a hole to be made in the fabric and making snaps available to the home sewer. Also called “gripper” and “gripper snaps”.

HISTORY: 1930’s: Introduced by Scovill Inc. and became widely popular, especially for infant and children’s apparel.
